INDEXprojects is an artist-run organisation presenting and commissioning a rigorous and diverse programme of critically-engaged work including INDEX|press, INDEX|screening and INDEX|sound.

INDEX started life as INDEX|gallery in 2012 and took up residence on the original site of Stroud Brewery on the London Road.  Renamed INDEX|projects in 2016, we now create our programme off-site.

INDEX is currently collaborating with KARST and i-DAT to establish an exciting touring network developing new approaches to incorporate the latest developments in digital technologies.

Artists involved are:

Joanna Greenhill, Ali Kayley & Helen Kincaid.

Our Story

INDEX|gallery has staged fourteen exhibitions over five years, ranging from painting and sculpture to film installation and performance. These have included a new commission to open the 2013 SITE Festival, the sky has to turn black before you can see the stars by Siobhan Hapaska, and work by leading practitioners such as Jordan Baseman and Will Cobbing.

INDEX|sound/The Listening Club has been a monthly programme of events exploring current and historical developments in experimental music and sound work. INDEX|sound has hosted six live concerts of new and experimental music with six international and national premieres.

INDEX|press is a publication that supports the exhibition programme as well as being an evolving artwork in its own right. We commission new texts, reviews, thematic articles, poetry and artwork by established writers and practitioners. There have been four issues of INDEX|press to date.
